Origin
Janice Cord lived with her scientist father in the reclusive Cord Castle imported over from Europe. She was worried about her father’s obsession with destroying his rival Tony Stark. When Drexel Cord built the giant android Demolisher to destroy Iron Man, Janice found help from S.H.I.E.L.D. to stop him.
Creation
Janice Cord was created by writer Archie Goodwin and artist Johnny Craig in 1968.
Major Story Arcs
Janice defied her father and tried to warn Tony Stark about The Demolisher. She found the help of Jasper Sitwell to try and stop her dad but eventually the scientist saw the error of his way when his creation turned on his daughter. Dr. Cord sacrificed himself to save Janice.
When her father died, Janice became Tony Stark’s girlfriend. The relationship ended tragically. She was seriously injured during a battle that opposed Iron Man against his two worst enemies of the time (Titanium Man and Crimson Dynamo III). She died in Iron Man’s arms, unaware that he was the man she loved.
