Origin
Little is known about Jarna. She went to the White Tower at Tar Valon to be trained as a young woman. She was eventually raised full Aes Sedai, choosing the Grey. At some point in her life she became a member of the Black Ajah. She was also at some point raised Sitter for her Ajah. She was extremely well respected amongst the sisters, none of whom knew or suspected her of being of the Black.
Creation
Jarna was originally created by Robert Jordan for his book series The Wheel of Time, making her first appearance in the seventh book in the series, A Crown of Swords. She made her first comic appearance in Wheel of Time: New Spring #3, written by Jordan and Chuck Dixon and illustrated by Mike Miller.
Major Story Arcs
New Spring
Jarna, a sitter for the Grey, takes an interest in the possible succession in Cairhien following the death of King Laman. She questions Moiraine Damodred, a niece of the King, who believes that Jarna’s interest implies she believes Moiraine could or should stand for the Sun Throne. Jarna was later tortured and murdered by Ishamael for her part in the murder of Tamra Ospenya and the plot to murder the Dragon Reborn.
Powers and Abilities
Jarna is a channeler of fair strength. As a channeler, her lifespan is greatly expanded compared to regular humans. Though an Aes Sedai, she was released from the Three Oaths by her Oaths to the Dark One; their effects on her potential longevity are unknown.
