Jim was a Captain in the Star City police force. He met his future wife Maggie who was a Lieutenant while he was her superior. They eventually got married and the love for each other began to fade away as they both constantly argued with each other. Maggie got pregnant and hoped that the child (Jamie) would bring Jim and her back together. Unfortunately that didn’t happen as the fights continued it ultimately led to divorce. During the divorce proceedings Jim went after their child by claiming that Maggie was unfit to be the mother. The courts agreed and gave Jim full custody of their daughter. Maggie left Star City and started a new life in Metropolis and the Metropolis Police Department.
