Written and drawn by Laura Howell, Johnny Bean first appeared in issue 3404 of The Beano in the strip Tales of Johnny Bean from Happy Bunny Green in October 2007.

Happy Bunny Green is a nice, peaceful little village. At least it would be if Johnny wasn’t around to liven the place up. Every troublemaker needs their own partner and in Johnny’s case it’s his faithful dog, Slasher, so called because he’ll cock his leg to anything and give it a good soaking.

Johnny and Slasher are the scourge of the lives of Mr. Garden, their narky neighbour, Mr. Mayor, the town’s top official and local nutter, Mrs. Garrity from the charity shop. There is also PC Cuff whose job it is to try and keep order in the village. The fact of the matter is when Johnny and Slasher get together there aren’t many happy bunnies to be seen in Happy Bunny Green.
