History of the Character
Julie Dwyer was first mentioned in the film Clerks written by Kevin Smith. She was a young woman who dated Dante Hicks and later died in a swimming pool at the local YMCA. Dante and Randal Graves went to her wake and although it was never shown apparently Randal knocked the body over and they were chased from the funeral home. In Mallrats it is revealed that Julie was suppose to be on a dating show when a friend told her innocently enough that the camera added ten pounds. She became so worried that she swam in the pool until until she died of and embolism. In the film chasing Amy she is mentioned one more time as it is revealed the Alyssa Jones knew her and was a friend before she died.
Appearances
Until the Clerks comics were made Julie had only been mentioned and wad never really seen. Eventually in a comic it was revealed what had happened at her wake. It was billed as the lost clerks scene, and narrated by Jay and Silent Bob. At the funeral Dante and Randal are their typical selves they bump into Alyssa and then go to pay their respects.

No although Julie appears in the story her face is never scene in full view. You see either the top, side or bottom of her face. While waiting to pay their respects Dante asks Randal to cover him while he goes to view her body.  The reason is because her parents caught Dante and Julie in a sexual act and Dante felt they wouldn’t want to see him.
Â
Randal in his usual way embarrass Dante and they are shocked when they see Julie laid out in a coffin wearing a skirt and tube top. Long story short the two of them drop their car and store keys in the coffin and they fall down Julies skirt. Dante horrified asks Randal to cover him while he tries to get his keys. Once more Randal uses this chance to humiliate Dante. He makes a scene that causes everyone to see what Dante is doing and they are horrified to see Dante with his hand down her skirt. This is the disturbance that causes a tussle and allowed Julie’s body to fall out. Later, this comic was later made into a small cartoon that was done in the same way as the animated series.
