Toji is the first love interest of Momo in Peach Girl. He cares for Momo, but unfortunately suffers from the thick-headedness of most teenage boys, and believes whatever Sae tells him, even if it’s against Momo. This causes Momo and him to have many vicious fights early on in their relationship, eventually leading to their breakup.

Toji realizes what a fool he's been.

He goes to the hospital for appendicitis and while he is out of school, rumors fly and Momo is shunned by her entire class. When Toji gets out of the hospital, Kairi arranges for him to overhear a conversation between him and Sae, and by appealing to her ego, Kairi gets Sae to admit how she is able to trick everyone in the class into believing her. At first, Toji is shocked and ashamed that he fell for Sae’s lies and hurt Momo so badly, but he eventually stands up for Momo in front of everyone and declares her his girlfriend, exposing Sae as a liar.

Toji begs Sae for mercy.

Toji is hard-headed and stubborn, and has a hard time expressing his love for Momo in public. When he is blackmailed by Sae into dumping Momo, he tries to get Sae to see that Momo is actually a good friend to her, and begs Sae to stop torturing Momo, but to no avail. He eventually bows to Sae’s will.

Toji is not featured a lot in Peach Girl: Change of Heart, but when he is, it’s revealed to Momo that he only broke up with her because of Sae, and that he still loves Momo. When Kairi breaks a promise to meet Momo at the train station, he goes on that planned trip to Shiranami with Momo instead, and they sleep together.

Momo and Toji get back together for a short time, but Momo realizes at the last minute that the one she really loves is Kairi. Toji lets her go, saying “You’re dumping a nice guy. So you’d better become happier than ever or I won’t forgive you.”
