Kin’emon

Origin

Kin’emon, Kanjuro, and Momonosuke, Kin’emon’s son, were traveling on their mission from the isolated Land of Wano and landed on Dressrosa. While there, Momonosuke went missing aboard a ship, and Kanjuro was captured by the Don Quixote Family while he tried to hold them back and allow Kin’emon to go after his son. Kin’emon landed on Punk Hazard, and he ran across Trafalgar Law, one of the Seven Warlords; and he was defeated and cut into three separate pieces but alive. Law threw his head into a cell and chopped it further up as his remaining pieces were left to wonder Punk Hazard.

Kin’emon (錦えもん, Kin’emon) is a supporting character in the One Piece series that was created by Eiichiro Oda. The series first began serialization in Shueisha’s Weekly Shōnen Jump on August 4, 1997. He would later appear in the Punk Hazard Island Arc that began in Volume 66.

His first appearance was in One Piece Volume 66 CH. 556 “Adventure on the Burning Island”.

Punk Hazard Island Arc

Kin’emon was joined in his cell by Sanji, Nami, Franky, and Chopper, members of the Straw Hat Pirates. They pieces his head back together, and Sanji took Kin’emon’s head with him. While escaping, they found a room filled with giant children. They took the children with them as they escaped, but Momonosuke wasn’t among them. Once outside, they ran into Trafalgar Law and the Navy. Law used his powers to mix up the minds and bodies of the Straw Hats, but they still got away. Kin’emon used his powers to create clothes for the pirates and the kids and they took refuge in a cave as the rest of the Straw Hats arrived. Kin’emon was reunited with his legs, Luffy had found them stuck to a dragon of the fire side, and Brook mentioned he had saw with Kin’emon’s torso near the lake. Without telling anyone, he ran off looking for his torso.

He was suddenly paralyses and frozen in the snow. He was found by Sanji, and they reasoned that he collapsed becasue his torso must have fallen in the lake. Unfortunately, a giant slime monster was at the lake and leaking it’s poison in the lake. Sanji risked hi life to retrieve the torso and finally complete the samurai’s body. Oddly enough, the slime monster had changed into a cloud of gas poison that was overtaking the island. They barely made it back inside Caesar Clown’s facility.

While running through the labs, the group was attacked by a small dragon that was attacking them. They all took a shot and striking it down, but later Kin’emon had learned from one of the children that his so had been changed into a dragon. Thinking the dragon he attacked was his son, he ran back and was caught in the poison that had been let in. He was coated in a poisonous shell for the rest of the escape, and was freed and cured. He was finally reunited with Momonosuke, and he traveled with the Straw Hats to Dressrosa.

Dressrosa Arc

The Straw Hats and Law had joined forces to find an artificial devil fruit factory on Dressrosa, and part of the mission was to also find Kanjuro. He joined Luffy, Zoro, Franky, and Sanji’s team, but they got distracted when Zoro was robbed of Shusui, the legendary sword of Ryuma and the treasure of Wano. Kin’emon got seperated from the others and he was spotted and captured by the Don Quixote Family.

Powers & Abilities

Fox-Fire Style

Kin’emon is a samurai who uses a style of sword fighting refereed to as Fox-Fire Style (狐火流 Kitsunebi-ryū). Much of the details behind this technique are unknown, but it is powerful enough to allow the user to cut through fire.

Devil Fruit

Kin’emon holds the powers of a as-yet-unknown devil fruit. This allows him to create clothing and other disguises.

Weapons & Equipment

Kin’emon uses a katana as his primary weapon, but the name of his blade is currently unknown..

Anime

One Piece (1999)

The One Piece animated series is a direct adaptation of Oda’s original manga.. It’s produced by TOEI Animation and first began airing in October 20, 1999. Kin’emon’s first anime appearance was in One Piece – Episode 580 “A Battle in the Heat! Luffy vs. The Giant Dragon!”, which aired on January 13, 2013. His character in the Japanese series is voiced by Kenyu Horiuchi, and the U.S. dub produced by FUNimation has yet to announce a voice actress.
