Major Story Arcs
Giles Morgan is a British Lord in the Victorian era. He makes a deal with a secret group of plutocrats known as the Hand of Four, led by Mr. Peebles. They have created a machine with the help of Dr. Pretorius that can control electrical fields and plan to use it, and the political influence of Lord Morgan, to take over the country. Their deal is that they will use the machine’s ability to resurrect the dead in exchange for Lord Morgan manipulating the government on their behalf. In fact, they have already resurrected him twice!
One of Morgan’s secretaries gets a hint of what’s going on and hires the detective team of Flynn and Bosworth to investigate. However Giles uses the machine to kill her with a man-made bolt of lightning before she can give out all his secrets.
The detectives look into the case anyway and find out about Giles’s involvement. He stonewalls them, but they eventually find the machine. During the pitched battle, the machine overloads and Giles and Pretorius are killed.
