Batman: White Knight
Bank teller Marian Drews was in a suicidal spin after her boyfriend had left. Returning to her old cutting habits, Marian’s life was forever changed during a robbery by the Joker. Staring down the barrel of a gun, Drews was forced into the role of accomplice, Calling Marian “Harley” during the theft, Drews was shocked when the Joker handed her a Harley Quinn costume and bandaged her sliced wrists. Initially too scared to correct the Clown Prince of Crime, Marian soon lost herself in the role of sidekick.
With the Joker restored to his sane persona of Jack Napier by the Batman, Marian was disgusted by his transformation. Rejecting Napier’s proposal, Drews was instead swatted aside by the original Harleen Quinzel who had arrived to reclaim her man. Devastated by the loss of her lover, Marian decided to operate as a Joker stand-in until she can restore the Joker’s insanity. Dubbed Neo Joker by the Mad Hatter, Drews has rallied the villains of Gotham to her cause and Hatter’s mind control technology.
