The man who would become Nightfire was a young Navajo brave under the teachings of his tribe’s shaman. He had gone through seven days of fasting in order to seek out his spirit guide and receive visions. The elder shaman believed him to be destined for great things and so watched the young brave from a short distance. Unfortunately, the Possessor had arrived and killed the elder shaman out of revenge for refusing to aid him in the past. As the young brave awoke from a trance, he mistook the Possessor as his spirit-guide and dedicated himself to doing whatever the illusionist said.
The Possessor took control of the young shaman and through him, he took control of the rest of the tribe. Possessor gave him the name Nightfire and transformed his skin into polished scarlet stone that was even resistant to hellfire used by Baphomet. He was also given power over fire and earth. But with all those powers gained, he lost any will of his own.
In battle with Baphomet, Nightfire grabbed Hellstorm‘s trident which held the elder shaman’s spirit and was released from the Possessor’s control. When the battle between Satan and the Possessor ended, Nightfire’s fellow tribesmen were returned to normal but Nightfire retained his appearance and all his powers. He had been permanently transformed and the Possessor left in a quite mad state of mind. Taking up the mantle of shaman, Nightfire decided to take the Possessor with him and heal him so that the Possessor may not be imprisoned or hospitalized and thus know something more in his life other than hate,
