Russell Red Horse, nicknamed Ozark, is a young Sioux who inherited the powers of the shaman Wa-Tan-Peh.
With the help of his friends from the Magic Circus (Doc Unknown, and sometimes the goddess Shakti), Ozark and his magical horse Mustang fight supernatural threats Maleficus, Dr. Kain, of Typho and Dark Wing and many others, who threaten to invade Earth.
