Hadley was originally a normal human. He underwent extensive surgery and genetic modification to gain most of Aquaman’s powers, including gills allowing him to survive underwater. He went into a crime spree which was blamed on Aquaman. The two men eventually confronted each other, Aquaman finding himself unable to best his imitator through combat. Â

Instead he defeated Hadley by sheer cunning. Hadley’s modifications allowed him to survive in the sea. Aquaman lured him to a body of fresh water where Hadley could not breathe. He nearly suffocated while Aquaman captured him with ease. Besides his inability to breath in lakes and rivers, Hadley seemed to lack Aquaman’s animal control abilities.
