Raze

History

Raze hunted down and killed his mother, Mystique. He then used his shapeshifting abilities to pose as her for a while, until he was tracked down by his half-brother, Charles Xavier II, who also wished to find and hurt the already dead Mystique. The two, realizing they were related, decided to work together, and thus the future Brotherhood was formed. They decided to go back in time to a time when the X-Men had not yet mastered magic (future Sorcerer Supreme Billy Kaplan) and science (presumably Shogo Lee). They attacked the time-displaced teenage X-Men again, after the events of Battle of the Atom.

No More Humans

Raze used a device stolen and developed by Dr. Sale of the Autoclyus Corporation to remove all humans from the Planet Earth. The mutant population woke up one morning to discover that all the humans had disappeared. The various groups of X-Men decided to band together to find out why and how. They eventually came upon Dr. Sale, who had been left behind intentionally by Raze. Emma Frost was able to telepathically determine that Raze had been in contact with Dr. Sale. They succumbed to a trap set by Raze and were all teleported into space. Thanks to some quick reacting on the part of Jean Grey, the X-Men were spared, and Beast and Storm returned them to Earth. Back at the Jean Grey School, portals had opened up allowing hundreds of mutant refugees from alternate universes to take refuge on Earth-616. On a scouting mission, Raze and Mystique ambushed and captured Nightcrawler. When the X-Men came looking for him, Raze used Nightcrawler as leverage against them. After explaining his plan (that he had cleared all the humans off the world to make room for mutants) and the futility of the X-Men’s efforts, Raze released Nightcrawler and the X-Men departed, except for Magneto who decided to stay behind to join Raze’s Brotherhood of Mutants, comprised of mutants from alternate realities, including the Phoenix (Jean Grey). The X-Men returned later on, and battled the new Brotherhood. Magneto faced Storm while Raze took on his father, the Wolverine. The Phoenix Jean Grey from an alternate reality bonded with the time-displaced Jean Grey from Earth-616, and together they stopped the battle and helped to undo Raze’s plans. Raze’s current whereabouts after this incident are unknown.

However, Raze first revealed himself in X-Men #6 – Battle of the Atom Chapter 7 with Brian Wood as writer and David Lopez, Cam Smith, Terry Pallot, Laura Martin, and Matt Milla on art and colors.

Powers & Abilities

No Caption Provided

Being the Mutant son of Wolverine and Mystique, Raze has inherited many of their abilities. He possesses the same 6, 12 inch retractable bone claws as Wolverine. 3 in each arm and housed specifically in his forearms. While not confirmed, it can be assumed he has also inherited Logan’s other abilities, such as acute senses and enhanced physical abilities. He has been shown to inherit Mystique‘s shape-shifting powers as well. His powers have been determined to be better than even Mystique’s. Which is probably why Logan couldn’t smell Raze when pretending to be an older Kitty Pryde. Much like his mother, Raze has recently been granted the ability to change his scent as well as move around his organs.

Master Combatant: It is safe to assume that Raze is a formidable opponent. He has defeated the likes of a young Iceman, Beast, potentially Psylocke (the victor of the fight was unclear), and has even bested his father, Wolverine on more than one occasion, using the combined might of his combat and shape-shifting abilities.
