Origin
Rikku is a young Al Bhed girl, the Al Bhed, a group generally meet with suspicious and distrust around Spira. The Al Bhed often keep to themselves, but occasionally interact with the larger world at large. They are known for being especially skilled and proficient with technology or as sometimes referred to on Spira, machina. Under the directions of her father Cid, Rikku is a part of several missions to capture the Summoner Yuna, under the pretense of keeping her safe and free to choose a life outside that of a Summoner. However this pretense is lost on Yuna and several of her Guardians, sworn protectors, who assist her on her Pilgrimage.
Eventually though Rikku ends up joining Yuna’s Guardians and becomes one herself, also revealing to Yuna that she is her cousin.
Creation
Rikku is a fictional character who was first used in the Final Fantasy franchise, debuting in the 10th installment of the long running series, 2001’s Final Fantasy X, and starring in its sequel Final Fantasy X-2. Rikku along with many of the other main characters of Final Fantasy X, created by Tetsuya Nomura.

Rikku is a supporting character and eventually a leading protagonist in the Final Fantasy X franchise, and related media including its sequel where she plays a larger role.
