Ryan Porter joined Ninth Wave right out of the University of Vermont. Her intense idealism was misunderstood by her fellow crew members as American elitism and she has been effectively ostracized.
She has “re-upped” as a volunteer with Ninth Wave four times and has moved into a technician position on the bridge of The Kapital.
Most recently she accompanied Mary on a foray to an ice-drilling station on Antartica. There they encountered a pair of scavengers who had already claimed the station as their own. The scavs tossed Mary and Ryan into a bore-hole where Mary was able to save both of thier lives.
