Ser Bennis

Ser Bennis of the Brown Shield, a title given for his unpainted wooden shield without a knightly sigil, is a Hedge Knight of the Seven Realms of Westeros. Well known for his poor odor, and lack of hygiene, it was not uncommon for him to see him in stained clothes.

Additionally, Ser Bennis did not uphold knightly values, but instead was reputed a man of low moral character. He was known to possess a cruel streak that he tended to display toward those he considered beneath his station. Squires, in particularly, were customarily insulted and abused by the Knight of the Brown Shield. Also, rarely showing loyalty to the Ruling Lord he was serving, it was common, when once out of their presence, for Ser Bennis to become insulting, and for his action to become disrespectful, of the Ruling Lord.

While in the service of Ser Eustace Osgrey, it was Ser Bennis of the Brown Shield’s quick temper, and over-aggressive actions, against peasants who had worked under the orders of the neighboring Maester Cerrick of Coldmoat, that reignited the feud between House Osgrey and House Webber.
