Atsuko fell in love with a samurai. Unfortunately that samurai was already married so they decided to commit Lover’s suicide. Though that night before they could kill themselves her lover was killed. All she had left was his swords. She reasoned that since his wife could have his son she should have his swords as they were the only thing she had to remember him by. Usagi came to offer her money but she refused him. He left to stay at the inn but her brother overhearing the offer argued with her to sell them to Usagi for the money. They fought the sword slipped out of its sheath and he accidently stabbed her. He was later killed in a attempt to rob him.
