The Steward is a being who has lived on Earth since the dawn of time. Although he appeared long before the evolution of humans, he appears human and has human emotions. For millions of years he watched life evolve on Earth, longing for intelligent companionship.

Once humanity arrives, the Steward intervenes in order to continue the survival of the human race. He helps to find a solution to a problem or crisis humanity faces in one day, which he then removes from humanity’s memory. He takes the day into himself and leaves behind one clue to help avert an event or disaster. This day is forgotten by all except the Steward, who writes of the day and catalogs it in a massive library.
