Origin
As a boy Peter Bold was shipwrecked on a mysterious island with a group of his schoolmates. After coming up with an idea to drive away a pack of rats he was derisively nicknamed “The Swamp Rat”
Unfortunately the island was also inhabited by a lost tribe of Mayas who attacked the group on first contact. Peter defended his friends and managed to fight off and defeat one of the tribe’s warriors, which gained him some respect with the tribesmen.
Fortunately the Mayas had a longstanding prophecy about a legendary white god, and believed Peter to be the fulfillment of this prophecy. To protect the other kids Peter decided to play along with this idea and took part in a number of trials, each time he succeeded in a trial the Mayas gave him a tattoo.
On the island Pete was befriended by a Mongoose which he named Mong.
