Tricky Dicky is the name of two DC Thomson characters. The first version appeared in The Topper, drawn by John Dallas. He would play practical jokes on random people. At one point he occupied the front cover. He ran until the demise of the Beezer and Topper in 1993. In 1999, he reappeared in The Beano. This time, his arsenal of practical jokes was explained by his Dad owning a joke factory. However, this version of the strip was shortlived. Later, in the 2010s, a new character called Tricky Dicky appeared in The Beano, drawn by Laura Howell. This version typically wears a school uniform, has ginger hair instead of the original character’s black hair, and has a regular enemy, a teacher called Mr Throbb. He was originally nicknamed the Terminator. “Tricky Dicky” was originally a secret alias, his true identity of Gordon Bennett (the name of another previous Beano character) only known to himself and his best friends. Later though, the Gordon Bennett and Terminator names vanished, and everyone calls him Tricky or Dicky. It was also retconned so that he attended Bash Street School.
