Vanndhar was the son of a prominent lord in Valusia, 30 years before Kull took the throne. Vanndhar was a prominent and great warrior who commanded the Black Legion until he was riddled with arrows in battle. As he lay dying on the field of battle, the spectre of death offered him immortality and an eternity of adventure in exchange for his services to Erlik, the yellow god of death. Hundreds of years later, he meets Conan while pursuing Conan’s childhood friend Jenna to be judged worthy of continued life. He sacrifices himself to spare Jenna’s life. She is left oblivious of his love for her.
