Visage

Origin

Visage’s origin is largely unrevealed, to the point that Iron Man isn’t certain whether she was ever even flesh-and-blood or simply born an energy-based being. Whatever the story behind her abilities, Visage claims she had a job and a life until Iron Man’s Super-Human Registration Act encouraged her bosses to test employees for super-powers without their consent. This outed her superhuman nature and effectively cost her everything.

To get her revenge on Iron Man, Visage impersonated actress Sheree Cinders for a publicity date with Tony Stark at a charity benefit. When Stark donned his Iron Man Armor, Visage revealed herself and started fighting him as a protest against the Registration Act, giving a well-rehearsed speech of how the Act had ruined her life. Iron Man found himself practically at Visage’s mercy, as his Armor was continually losing power and he could barely even scan Visage, let alone find a weakness. He then realized Visage wasn’t a flesh-and-blood human and that she was draining his armor as she was fighting him. Iron Man then took off his helmet and gave Visage a free shot at him while telling her that her employers had no right to fire her simply for being what she was and that the Registration Act was meant to help people like her. He admitted that he couldn’t undo the damage to her life, but offered to help her find a new place in the world. Visage backed off, but made a vow that she wasn’t through with Stark and then vanished.

According to Iron Man, Visage is essentially a living volumetric display – a being composed of focused infrared pulses creating balls of glowing plasma at various interconnecting focal points. She is an energy-based being capable of siphoning off power from electrical systems for her own uses, such as to increase her own strength and durability, fire energy blasts, and she can also alter her own appearance in order to shape-shift to a certain extent, such as when she impersonated Sheree Cinders.
