Yank rescues Tom Townsend before The Black Hand can kill him, as the villain had just done to Tom’s father, John. The eagle takes Tom to his high mountain eirie and nurtures him back to health. One day, Yank returns with an American flag. It inspires Tom to don the mantle of Captain Flag and fight for justice.
