Yuriko is actually Annie’s “romantic” interest in the first issue before Annie meets Nibbil later in the issue, although this interest does take the form of Annie watching her from afar. Once Nibbil becomes a part of Annie’s life, Yuriko is forgotten until she decides to host a Halloween Party for her neighbors.
In Issue 3, Janus, the stricter, more disciplined guardian of Annie’s conscience, mistakenly walks into Yuriko’s house after mistaking it for Annie’s. Yuriko and Janus hit it off much like Annie and Nibbil, and the two are shown still together by the time Yuriko invites her neighbors to her Halloween Party.
