Origin
Beroul is a demon, he gained the attention of John Constantine by trapping the soul of a girl who was related to a friend of his, drawing the magic user and demon slayer to California where the demon has made his own miniature hell.
He seeks John’s assistance to drive out competition (other demons) and to grow his hell into more than what it already is.
Creation
Beroul first appears in Hellblazer: All His Engines and was created by Mike Carey and Leonardo Manco.
Powers & Abilities
Beroul possesses a human form but it has long since lost all but the most basic of human traits and the body can be used for his powers. When eating, John asks if it is alright if he smokes and Beroul tells him “all the cancer tissue is used in this body”. Despite his powers and longevity, he is not immortal as John used a death god to destroy Beroul’s opponents, so he can die. Beroul possesses divine (though demonic) powers and can trap a human soul in a single cell in his body. He can shapeshift and possesses super strength. He also possesses great knowledge.
