Origin
Burt-1 was an editorial droid in Tharg the Mighty’s Command Centre, helping to create 2000 AD progs. He replaced the late Aaln-1 after the Scottish droid was destroyed by the Dictators of Zrag. Slow-witted and immensely dull-natured, he struggled with his duties working on the galaxy’s most thrill-powered publication, but his flaws proved an unexpected defense when the Thrill-Suckers attacked the Command Centre, as Burt proved to be the sole staff member immune to the aliens’ soporific attacks.
Creation
An affectionate parody of 2000 AD editor Richard Burton, Burt-1 was introduced to Tharg the Mighty’s occasional strips as a replacement for Aaln-1.
