He has had  a romantic relationship with Ariel in the past, and because of this he may be the only person capable of helping Morlie Mack and Krieger figure out what happened to Ariel and how it ties in to the murders in Green Wake.  Unfortunately, he can no longer remember much of what happened in that relationship or how it ended, though memories slowly return to haunt him from time to time.
