Carthus oversaw the terrigenesis of Tonaja’s group, and believed the emerged Dewoz to be an Alpha Primitive. After he realized that Dewoz was not in fact an Alpha Primitive, he continued to force Dewoz to work with the other primitives due to his physical resemblance. It was thought that Carthus was being mentally controlled by Maximus the Mad to do this to Dewoz, but was never truly revealed. It is possible due to Carthus’s duty as guard over Maximus the Mad when Maximus was imprisoned.
