Chico

Creation

Chico appears since the first cartoon of the first issue of Zagor comics, and is a true co-star of the stories. He represents the average man in whom every reader can easily identify. He is not particularly athletic nor brave, but he lives his adventure together with Zagor with courage and dedication. He was created by writer Guido Nolitta and artist Gallieno Ferri in 1961, probably inspired by the Disney character Donald Duck.

Origin

Felipe Cayetano Lopez Martinez y Gonzales (and sometimes his true name appears to be even longer) was born in Veracruz, Mexico. Last son of a numerous family, he has always had to do every kind of job for living, but never losing his Hispanic “arrogance” and self-confidence, proved by his stylish clothing and his spasmodic cure for his mustaches.
