Enigma is the sworn enemy of the Blue Beetle (Ted Kord) and uses everything he can to make elaborate death traps. He also has advanced laser weapons and has mutated his henchmen into giants. He was even able to make a robotic shark that he had attack the Question.

The Blue Beetle was the first person to every get him sent to jail. In jail he didn’t speak for ten years and thought of nothing but getting revenge. He would even sacrifice his life in an attempt to kill the Blue Beetle (Ted Kord) and get his revenge. He never got it.  The Blue Beetle (Ted Kord) died but not by his hands.
