Origin
Flip was the cloned surrogate son of Walter Johnson, a scientist who worked at Project Cadmus along with the original Newsboy Legion. He joined the second incarnation of the Newsboy Legion along with the clones of the original Newsboys.
Creation
The Pre-Crisis Flip was created by Jack Kirby.
The Post-Crisis Flip was created by Roger Stern and Ron Frenz.
Character Evolution
As the clone of his “father”, Walter Johnson, Flip shares his father’s personality and has all of his father’s memories, but only up till the age that he has been artificially aged to. Thus he is occasionally confused by elements of modern life or technology. He is very fond of aquatic maneuvers, which resulted in the nickname “Flip”.
