Versus X-Factor

Apocalypse first sended Gauntlet and his team to Earth to infect the infant Nathan Summers and Ship with a techno-organic virus. In retaliation X-Factor attacked the Moon, joining with the royal family of the Inhumans against Apocalypse. When Apocalypse was seemingly killed in the battle, Gauntlet and the others Dark Riders took his body back to Earth to regenerate. He then went into hiding.

Genesis and Wolverine

The Dark Riders eventually found a new leader in Genesis. He sent the Gauntlet to capture Cyber so that could strip his adamantium in his plan to make Wolverine the first of his new Horseman. Unfortunately, Wolverine rejected the adamantium and regressed to a feral state. Gauntlet was believed to have been killed after Wolverine used fellow Dark Rider Deadbolt’s severed head to lure Gauntlet towards him and then savagely attacked him, but did not kill him.

Following the final defeat and disbandment of the Dark Riders, Gauntlet became a mercenary. Blaquesmith secretly contracted Gauntlet to hunt down Apocalypse when he was merged with Cyclops. However, Gauntlet only managed to find Apocalypse after Phoenix had killed him and liberated Cyclops from the amalgamation. Not much has been heard from Gauntlet since then.

Gauntlet made an appearance in the animated television show X-Men Evolution, in the fourth season episode Target X.

He is one of HYDRA’s premiere agents, and is a master of hand-to-hand and armed combat. Gauntlet appears to have been either genetically altered or possessing a natural mutation that makes him stronger, tougher and with keener senses than the average human being. Like other agents of HYDRA, he has access to a wide array of tools and equipment that make him a formidable opponent and a dangerous tracker. Unfortunately for Gauntlet, he was aboard the hovercraft with the Supreme HYDRA which X-23 destroyed.
