Action Man

Creation

The first Action Man was an action figure released in 1966 by the British company Palitoy, it is a version of Hasbro‘s G. I. Joe action figure. In 1982, Hasbro, in partnership with Marvel, launched the collection GI Joe: A Real American Hero, featuring a team group called G.I. Joe, Palitoy adapted this team as Action Force, with comics published by IPC Magazine and Marvel UK. In the early 1990s, with Hasbro’s acquisition of Tonka, it also obtained rights to Palitoy. In 1993, he released a collection of a new Action Man, a super agent, followed by an animated series in 1995. The character gained an archenemy, Doctor X and had comics published by Panini UK between 1996 and 2006.

In the Hasbro Universe published by IDW Publishing, Action Man was not a single character, but rather a codename used by British agents, most unidentified, Action Man who acted between the 1990s and 2000s was part of Team Extreme alongside Natalie Poole (Action Force member in the 1995 animated series) and even collaborated with Sgt. Savage.

  • In the Action Man animated series, released in 1995, Action Man is a member of the Action Force. and does not remember about its past, the group fights against The Council of Doom, led by Doctor X, the series had only 26 episodes and did not reveal the mysteries about Action Man’s past, according to the bible series, Action Man was in true Matthew Exler and Doctor X was his foster brother Dorian Exler, Dorian erased Action Man’s memory. The character was voiced by Mark Griffin, who also portrayed the character in the live-action segment.
  • In the Action Man animated series, released in 2000, Action Man is Alex Mann, extreme sports athlete and member of Team Xtreme and also fighting the forces of Doctor X.
