Wendi Hickenbottom performed a heist with her husband Troy, but she got away with the loot.
In the prison, Troy was accidentally infused with energy making him look like the comic book character Superion. With his new powers, he escaped and tried to find Wendi. While he was on his way, Wendy was infused with the same type of energy as Troy, giving her superpowers and making her look like the comic book character Afterglow.
For a while she tried to live with her new looks and powers but she didn’t like the change and felt no need to exploit the powers to steal money. The result was bickering and fights and as Troy became increasingly more dangerous she stopped him by breaking both his legs and handing him over to the police.
