Ahab is one the first kings of Israel that have archeological evidence.His rulership was betweeen the years c. 871 â c. 852 BC.
He is famous in jewsh tradition for his supposed idolatry and heresy. He persecuted the prophet Elijah and give free hand to his wife Jezabel to make sacrilogeus act in the kingdom.
The historical king Ahab is reputed to be a builder of cities and also defeated the mighty king of Assyria in the battle of Qarqar, as a member of a coalition of 12 kings.
