History
When the Kree refugees came to Attilan for refuge, they actually came to kill Ahura and the rest of the Inhuman Royal Family. Ahura was seen along with Gorgon, Black Bolt, Medusa and Karnak in a garden since the Inhuman Royal Family renounced their claim of power. However, before they can shoot, Black Bolt senses them and fires a bolt of energy at them. Ahura is covered by his mother, Medusa, and tells her he can use his powers to help but she refuses to allow it. Medusa tells him he would be in danger and she won’t have that. Medusa and the rest are knocked out while Black Bolt is in the ion field. Ahura goes and unlocks Black Bolt. He is then teleported outside of Attilan by the Kree tents. He is given a shield that protects him until the boss of the Kree comes and tells them the situation.
Ahura is the son of Black Bolt and Medusa of the Inhumans. He was conceived without permission of the Genetics Council, and born on Earth in defiance of this Council. His birth cry demonstrated his father’s devastating power, but this evolved into a psionic “evil eye” power that can cause death. His powers are relatively dormant. He was taken by the Council and sent to Earth, but his spacecraft crashed and he was taken in by a childless couple and named “Pope”. He grew unnaturally quickly and it was in this period that his “evil eye” power replaced his vocal powers.
After his rescue by Gorgon and Karnak, he was taken by the Genetic Council for the leader’s own purposes. With the help of his family, he was able to overcome the corrupt Chief Justice who had been stealing his power. He has been out of sight for years, but just recently his whereabouts have been revealed. His existence seems overlooked in the Son of M series. Crystal demands the Inhumans go to Earth and retrieve her daughter, Luna. Medusa and Black Bolt refused to intervene, to which Crystal bitterly retorts they would understand if they had children. Medusa then looks upon Crystal silently with contempt. Perhaps this is due to the fact that Medusa and Black Bolt have little to do with their child, or it may in fact be a continuity error. However, Silent War reveals that Ahura has been locked away for years because he is afflicted with the same madness as his uncle, Maximus. As his powers grew, so did his insanity. The Genetic Council of Attilan deems him too dangerous and he is taken to the Pacifiers to suppress his powers.
The Pacifiers are unable to treat his mental illness. Black Bolt forbids Medusa to see him but she reveals that she has visited him twice. The first time, Ahura chastised her for allowing this to happen to him. On Medusa’s second (and most recent) visit, it is revealed that years with the Pacifiers have taken away Ahura’s anger and violence, but left him in an over sedated state. Medusa asks permission from Black Bolt to use Luna to attempt to heal his mind, but he flatly refuses.
Powers
Quasi-Sonic Scream: Ahura possessed a powerful quasi-sonic scream. He can mentally harness ambient electron and particle energies to generate powerful sonic screams.
Evil-Eye: Ahura’s powers later evolved, and he now possesses a powerful psionic “evil eye” which can instantly kill any creature he stares at.
Particle Manipulation and Absorption: Ahura can absorb, generate and manipulate vast amounts of raw power for various effects. He has vast control over both matter and or energy, quite possibly on a quantum level. Ahura can even control and alter reality at a certain degree.
Energy Absorption: Ahura is capable of absorbing various types of energy for the purpose of temporarily enhancing his own physical attributes. His energy absorption abilities allow him to generate protective force-fields or destructive energy blasts.
Psionic Abilities: Ahura is able to sense surrounding area. Ahura is capable to read minds of other people as well as animals, and is able to sense the presence or approach of other Inhumans, and even determine their intentions. It is unclear whether he could sense other superhumans or normal people.
Splitting of Soul: Ahura can split his soul to create psychic phantoms. While he can only create four at once, the future version of himself was able to create an entire army. Ahura’s psychic projections can use psionic weapons, such as bow and arrows, that can damage a target physically and mentally.
Alternate Versions
Universe X/Paradise X Series
Son of Black Bolt and Medusa, Ahura was born a prince of the Inhuman royal family. At that time, the Inhuman Science Council deemed the young Boltagon a threat, fearing his powers would be much like his fathers and as a result put the entire Inhuman nation at risk of destruction. In order to spare their son’s life, Black Bolt put his son under the care of Captain Britain to raise as his own son. At some point in the convening years, the Inhumans would grow restless in their refuge and seek to live in the outside world. Not wanting his people to die from the outside world’s pollution or persecution, Black Bolt secretly released the Terrigen Mists into the Earth’s atmosphere with a device built by his mad brother Maximus. After this time the Inhuman royal family would leave Earth to explore outer space.
In years to come, Ahura would grow up to become the mute Black Knight, successor of Dane Whiteman who was turned into stone along with his Excalibur teammates by the Grey Gargoyle. As the Black Knight, Ahura would be a member of Captain Britain’s royal guard (Britain being chosen to be the king of Britain due to the worlds nations choosing super powered beings with experience to be their leaders) Soon the Inhuman royal family would return to Earth, primarily to warn Reed Richards of an incident they witnessed in space: The remains of a planet, destroyed from the inside out and its inhabitants, the Eternals formerly of Earth trapped in Vibranium. Their secondary purpose was to find their son, because he was chosen to marry Luna, the daughter of Crystal and Quicksilver. Although the royal family would meet the Black Knight, they would not know his true identity until the people of Earth had defeated the Skrull who was taking over the planet, and Black Bolt had sacrificed his life to summon Galactus (really Franklin Richards) to save the Earth from the impending threat of a Celestial embryo growing in the planet’s core.
When Luna (now mutated by the Terrigen Mists) offered her hand in marriage, she was turned away from Black Knight who felt a responsibility to his royal heritage to serve an entire planet of Inhumans. Over the next three years the powers of the world would construct giant “Human Torches” to burn the Terrigen Mists out of the air so that humanity could be restored to its original state. Additionally the world’s climate would change as a result of the destruction of the Celestial embryo would cause the world’s poles to shift, changing Britain into a tropical paradise. The world would not want to give up it’s powers and it’s heroes would be divided between stopping Immortus and his Church (manipulated by Mephisto) from taking down the Torches, and trying to find a way to reverse Earth’s repolarization. During this time, the Inhuman royal family would spend time between Buckingham Palace in Britain, and Dr. Doom’s castle in Latveria.
Captain Mar-Vel would find himself reborn into a new body and on a quest to collect items of power and fragments of his own Cosmic Consciousness in order to save the universe. At the time he had come to Britain seeking to collect the book of Darkhold from Merlin, the Black Knight would reveal himself in a costume closely resembling his fathers. As the new “Black Bolt” Ahura would travel with Captain Britain, his mother Medusa, Captain Mar-Vel and Captain America to the Siege Perilous to meet with Merlin to collect the book of Darkhold. Later, when the Tong of Creel would come for the piece of the Absorbing Man in Captain Britain’s protection, the Black Knight would help defend Buckingham Palace from the attack. However, they would fail and the Tong would escape with the portion of “Crusher” Creel they sought. With an army of Iron Men (robots modeled after a number of the Avengers, originally designed by Tony Stark), Black Knight next went to the Savage Land in order to investigate why the Human Torch there went out (apparently out of neglect.) There the traveled to Sentinel City, a mutant sanctuary constructed out of Sentinel’s by Magneto during the early days of humanities mass mutation. The repolarization had caused Magneto and his minion the Toad to switch powers. The power mad Toad used his newfound magnetic power to enslave all who came to Sentinel City. Black Knight was defeated and the Iron Men who accompanied him were put under the Toad’s control.
When Iron Maiden and Jade Dragon came to Sentinel City answering the summons of Cable, who was trapped under the city (due to the final effects of the Technorganic virus he was infected with), the two would be saviors also found themselves caught up in the feud between Toad and Magneto. Freeing themselves, and the Black Knight, the three fought off the Toad and his new creation Tank. During the fight, Black Knight would use his powers to blast open a hole in Sentinel City, revealing Cable, who now was a giant mass of technorganic matter. With Cable’s aid, Iron Maiden would use her powers to reorganize the Vibranium in the area so that the power switch between Toad and Magneto would reverse itself. With Magneto’s powers restored, Magneto would repair all the damage and apologize to the Toad for all the years of treachery.
Later, the Black Knight and the Iron Men would aid the heroes of New York against the newly revived Absorbing Man, who literally absorbed all of New York City. While the Knight and his Iron Men’s attack proven ineffectual, Loki would eventually convince Creel to change his body into Vibranium and save the world from destruction. The Black Knight would return to Britain where he would remain mostly uninvolved in the events of the following three months. During this time, Mar-Vel would complete his quest of killing Death in the Realm of the Dead and create a new realm he called Paradise. This however would cause those in the land of the living to be unable to die and many would be left to eternal suffering in giant hospitals constructed out of the Human Torches. During this time, Captain Britian would propose to marry Medusa and create a union between Inhuman and humanity. Black Bolt would be present during this time, as well as when Mephisto (disguised as both Captain U.K. and Grey Gargoyle) would free the long imprisoned Excalibur from their stone imprisonment in hopes that the revival of Meggan would disrupt Captain Britain’s marriage to Medusa.
Black Knight would later give Iron Maiden an army of Iron Men to aid her in her mission to free the Eternals from their Vibranium prison so that they may aid in freeing Cable from his prison. Later still when Mephisto would gather the remainder of the Deviant race to make a final strike on the human race, they would all meet and attack Buckingham Palace, where Mephisto would take the sword Excalibur (one of the few items left that could actually kill someone) and seemingly slaying Captain Britain (really Meggan in disguise) Black Knight, Captain Britain, X-51, Medusa and Ransak the Reject would lead the counterattack against Mephisto and the Deviant hordes, and Mephisto would fall to the very blade he sought to capture. Shortly after this, Black Knight would team up with the Reject, and Loki (who would take over the guise of Thor) to form a new team of Avengers to act as Earth’s defenders. Black Knight’s current activities are presently unknown.
