Anaykah lived in the African city of Opak-re, a city of high technology and a strong aversion to outsiders. She became pregnant with the daughter of Lord Blackstock, a member of the English nobility who had grown up in the African jungles, though she was also in love with Elijah Snow, the writer of the Planetary Guides.
After the birth of her daughter, the city was hidden from the world forever. She gave the child to Snow to take care of, and returned to her people.
