Origin
Angela St. Grace (also known as Knockout) is a secret agent for the organization G.O.O.D. (Global Organization for the Obliteration of Dastardliness). She has a side kick and partner by the name of Go Go Fiasco and together they are usually seen fighting the organization E.V.I.L (Extralegal Vendors of Iniquity & Licentiousness). Her mother Celeste St. Grace is the head of G.O.O.D. while her father Damon Devlin is the head of E.V.I.L.
Creation
Angela St Grace is a fictional character created by writer Robert Rodi and artist Louis Small Jr. She was created to be the protagonist and star of the Vertigo published series Codename: Knockout which was released in June 2001 and ran for twenty four issues. The characters first appearance was in Codename: Knockout #0 – Fox and Hound. Angela is inspired heavily by Good Girl art but is also subversive of that style in the sense she has personality characteristics more commonly associated with Bad Girl Art. Other inspirations for the series Codename: Knockout and Angela include The Man from U.N.C.L.E. and Charlie’s Angels.
Codename: Knockout is also notable for being considered Vertigo’s first Bad Girl inspired series.
