Origin
An Egyptian man is killed by Cairo police after wrongfully being accused of being a terrorist. The police admit their mistake and pay his family compensation, which his widow uses to immigrate to New York with her young daughter. The family struggle to make ends meet and after negligence from a hospital, the widow dies due to not receiving the correct treatment for her illness. The now teenage daughter survives by becoming a prostitute and is constantly abused by her pimp. One day the pimp’s Egyptian bodyguard kills him for the constant abuse and frees the teenager from a life of prostitution. The hate filled teenager decides she and her rescuer will never serve anyone again and the pair spend a number of years learning and training to bring fear to those who oppressed them.
Creation
Anput was created by writer David Liss and artist Colton Worley. She first appeared in The Spider #1 (May 2012) as a voice on the phone. Her first Physical appearance was in The Spider #2 (Jun. 2012).
