In ancient times on the unclaimed land that would become Wakanda, an aliance of Ennead and Orisha freed numerous mortals from the grasp of the First Vampire, Varnae. The land was henceforth protected by this coalition of deities, and goddess Bast asked Anuket to flood the part of land housing the First Temple of Blasphemy.

In modern day Wakanda, Black Panther has been bitten and cursed by a Varnae-possessed Blade, and tasked to locate the First Temple for his new master. While searching, T’Challa is confronted by Bast who is displeased by her avatar’s corruption by the ancient enemy of the Wakandans. She calls upon Anuket, who emerges from the deep waters to guide the Panther to the submerged temple. Before she leaves T’Challa to his quest Anuket bestows a kiss upon the former King, granting him her lifeblood which temporarily gifts him the ability to breathe in her waters and control the currents themselves to vanquish the Atlanteans guarding Varnae’s temple.

Anuket returns to Bast, who demonishes her goddess sister for not respecting the gravity of the situation. Anuket counters that she is not the one T’Challa serves, and thus should not be expected to offer more than she has. Though, as a goddess that also represents love and feminine lust, she displays overt desire for T’Challa to explore her uncharted waters.
