Axa, the titular character in a comic-strip originally from the British newspaper The Sun, it ran from 1978 to 1986 before Axa took off into comic-books.
Axa is a fur-bikini clad heroine in a Red Sonja/Barbarella/Racquel Welsh mould, wields a sword and given to losing her clothing every other panel.
Several decades after a nuclear holocaust (the strip opens in the year 2080), Axa is stifled by the regimented society of the `Domed City` she has grown in. Shedding her jumpsuit for a ragged bikini – phwoaar! – she leaves and sets off into the wastelands in search of adventure and the answer for the future of mankind….
