Sofia and her parents were preyed upon by The Ark Program, a consortium of billionaires that was experimenting on poor people to perfect metahuman powers. Batman saved them and set them up with new life in Los Angeles. However, Sofia’s mom would pass away due to the trauma of the experiments, and, years later, she father would be killed by an enforcer for Ra’s al Ghul, who was interested in recruiting Sofia to the League of Assassins.
