Origin
Growing up around an airport in New York City, New York, Edward Menninger, or Backblast, wanting nothing more in life than to be professionally involved in shooting down planes. The Army, and then G.I. Joes, gave him that opportunity.
Creation
Backblast was released as an action figure in 1989, the same year that writer Larry Hama and artist Mark Bright brought him to life in the comics.
