Origin
Barrio Negro is a luchador wrestler who takes part in the underground fighting scene, specifically the “Temple” at Lucha Underground. He is a member of the Disciples of Death, assembled by the mysterious and seductive Catrina and acting as a force for the monster Mil Muertes. When Catrina and Mil Muertes were acting together, they were a massive threat, but with Barrio Negro, El Siniestro de la Muerte and Trece under their command as the Disciples of Death, they would become the dominant force in Lucha Underground.
Creation
Barrio Negro is a fictional character, created by the El Rey Network, for the Lucha Underground show. In 2016, El Rey Network would release a series of comics that use the characters from Lucha Underground, filling in details and plot points between Season One and Season Two.
In the second issue written by Justin Ortiz, Christopher Dejoseph and Fabian Rangel Jr, Catrina and Mil Muertes, as well as the Disciples of Death would be covered.
