Origin
Cereza is the Daughter of a Lumen Sage and an Umbran Witch, two powerful beings from separate clans: The Lumen Sages that serve under Paradiso/Heaven, and the Umbran Witches who work with Inferno/Hell. Her birth brought open an age old prophecy that would cause the destruction of the world. Her Mother was imprisoned and her Father was banished while Cereza was dubbed the Black Sheep among the Witches. During her older years her clan was attacked by Angels and Sages that was known as the Witch Hunts.
Later her friend/rival Jeanne put Cereza into a sleep for the next five hundred years, waking up with no memories of who she was. She would then take on a name that is feared by the Angels with her Demons and contract Demon Madamma Butterfly as her alias: Bayonetta.
Bayonetta
Bayonetta goes to the city of Vigrid to uncover the truth of her past, and discover of the Left Eye. During her time there she learns Vigrid was the stronghold for both the Lumen Sages and Umbran Witches. She then encounters the Cardinal Virtue of Fortitude: Fortitudo, the Bringer of Flame. After defeating the Cardinal she encounters a little girl by the name of Cereza. The little girl travels with Bayonetta as they come across the other Cardinal Virtues: Temperance, Prudence, and Justice and slayed everyone.
She encountered Jeanne as well who was under the control of the Lumen Sage: Balder, the last Lumen Sage and the cause of the Witch Hunts. He revealed to Bayonetta that he is the cause for everything, he brought Cereza who is in fact a younger version of Bayonetta since she saw the world through pure eyes. By doing this she would charge the Left eye and the Right eye to recreate the Eyes of the World: Sacred powers given by the Lumen Sages and Umbran Witches, to reawaken the Creator Jubileus. However Jeanne, after being freed from the control, freed Bayonetta before Jubileus could be awaken. The lost of the Left eye caused Jubileus to become incomplete and soon attack Bayonetta to take back the eye.
After a long hard battle Bayonetta and Jeanne summon Queen Sheba, the ruler of Inferno to deliver the final blow that sent Jubileus spirit into the Sun. Her statue however was soon crumbling to the Earth, causing Bayonetta and Jeanne to work together to destroy it. They destroyed the statue and soon landed on Earth.
However many believed Bayonetta to be dead as Rodin, her Weapons dealer and Enzo, and Luka: A journalist who once had a grudge against Bayonetta for her killing his father before he learned Balder did it. They attended her grave site before Angel’s appeared and attacked, revealing it was a ruse and Bayonetta was alive and back to kick butt.
Bayonetta 2
Sometime after the death of Jubileus as well as Balder and the Right Eye Bayonetta is doing some Christmas shopping. However she is soon attacked by Angels, she fought them throughout the entire city before she summoned Gomorrah to kill all the Angels.
However the summoning fails and Gomorrah breaks free to attack Bayonetta, but at the last second Jeanne takes the blow. This however blasted her soul out of her body allowing the demons to drag her down in Inferno.
