He died with all his squad during a recovery mission in the Bolivian jungle in 2001.
After being bitten on the face by a nun with the skull of a jaguar for a face, Daimio was infected with the same power and eventually after a rocket attack that should have killed him emerged from the flames as a duplicate of the same monstrous jaguar god that his squad had been destroyed by years before. Fleeing, he is now loose in the world as a man-eating monster. After slaughtering many of the B.P.R.D. agents that were sent after him by Johann, Captain Daimio was eventually killed by a Wendigo.
