Benn Pares is the self-styled “greatest burglar in the galaxy”, though Magpie also claims to be the best.
Pares broke into the headquarters of the Legion of Super-Heroes just to prove that he was so good that even the Legionnaires couldn’t stop him. He taunted the Legionnaires by telling them that he intended to steal their Miracle Machine, and that there was nothing they could do to stop them. And it appeared that he would be successful, as they could not catch him. However, the Legionnaires eventually realized that they could use the Miracle Machine itself to capture Pares, and so they caught him and turned him in to the Science Police.
After this, Benn was arrested for burglary on Carggg, Toonar, Risius 4, escaping each time. Benn is believed to have committed hundreds of undetected thefts.
In the DC Animated Universe continuity, Pares attempted to rob Brainiac 5‘s lab and destroy the Legion’s headquarters, but he was stopped by Ferro and Gates.
