Esteben was an inmate at Ryker’s Island Penitentiary who was serving a life sentence. Esteben dawned the name Big Jesus and quickly gained respect from the other inmates for not being afraid of the guards and his willingness to attack him. When the Punisher arrives on Ryker’s Island, Big Jesus hatches a plan to free the Punisher from prison. It’s revealed that Big Jesus’ brother raped the Kingpin while in Attica Prison, and in retaliation, the Kingpin had Big Jesus’ brother raped and murder and took pictures of the whole thing. Big Jesus had orchestrated the prison riot to break the Punisher out of prison so he and the Punisher could kill the Kingpin, However, the Punisher kills Big Jesus after they broke out and pursues the KIngpin himself.
