Billy Dane starred in a series called ‘Billy’s Boots’, first in Scorcher, then Tiger, then Eagle (when the two comics merged) and finally Roy of the Rovers.
His strips were reprinted in the Dutch magazine Sjors under the title De Wondersloffen van Sjakie (The Magic Boots of Sjakie, with Sjakie Meulemans being Billy’s name in the Dutch version). The series ran until 1975, when Sjors was merged with another title to become Eppo; to end the series properly, Dutch artist Jaap Verway drew a new epilogue, showing Sjakie signing for a club to become a professional footballer.
