The Black Guardian is one of the mysterious multiversal transcendental beings known as the Guardians of Time. The Black Guardian represents chaos, darkness, and destruction, and is opposed to the mysterious White Guardian. Although the Black Guardian was tricked and seemly defeated by the Doctor and his companions, the Black Guardian was said to continue to exist as long as there is chaos and destruction.
